Georgian Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili visited Dusheti and inspected the construction of a hydroelectric power station on the river Aragvi. Construction work on the White Aragvi began in April and will be completed in January next year.
In a conversation with representatives of the construction company, Prime Minister stressed the importance of mastering water resources of the country amid the growing demand for electricity.
Merabishvili said that only 20 percent of potential have been mastered in Georgia, which ranks second in the world in terms of water resources per capita.
Around 17 hydroelectric power stations are being constructed to meet the growing demand in the country. The similar projects will be implemented in the future.
Aragvi hydroelectric power station's design capacity hits 8 megawatts and annual output - 50 million kilowatt / hour. The investment cost of the project is $11 million. Around 122 people have been engaged in construction work.
