Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has nominated Karim Massimov's candidacy for the post of the country's prime minister.

"Nursultan Nazarbayev has nominated Karim Massimov as a prime minister of Kazakhstan," according to Twitter page of the Kazakh presidential palace Akorda.

Karim Massimov was born in 1965. He graduated from the Beijing Language and Culture University, the Institute of International Law of Wuhan University in China and the Kazakh State Academy of Management.

He has a major in international law and economy. Massimov holds a Doctorate of Science in Economics.

He is also fluent in English, Chinese and Arabic.

He worked as a chief economist, the head of department at the Ministry of Labour, a senior specialist at the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations in the Chinese city of Urumqi, and as an executive director of the Trade House of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong.

He was the chairman of the board of Almaty Commercial and Financial Bank and the People's Saving Bank of Kazakhstan.

Massimov was also appointed the minister of transport and communications and aide to the Kazakh president.

Since January 2006 he served as the deputy prime minister of Kazakhstan. In April 2006, Massimov was appointed the deputy prime minister, minister of economy and budget planning of Kazakhstan.

Since January 2007, he served as prime minister of Kazakhstan.

In September 2012, Massimov was appointed head of the Kazakh presidential administration.

Since January 21, 2014 he served as the acting secretary of state of Kazakhstan.
