Russia launches solar power plant on Kazakh modules

A solar power plant has been launched in Russia's Astrakhan province on the basis of the photovoltaic modules produced by Kazakhstan's Astana Solar LLP, Kazatomprom, Kazakhstan's National Atomic Company said.

'Narimanov' solar power plant, with the installed capacity of 250 kW started to operate on Sept.29. The plant fills the pumps of the boiler solar thermal power plant, which provides the city of Narimanov with hot water.

The solar power plant covers an area of 5,000 square meters. The generating system of the solar power plant consists of 1,060 solar modules with the peak capacity of 240W produced by the Astana Solar LLP.

This facility has been created by the company Solar Energy with the support of the Bright Capital, a management company, under the project for creating a network of solar plants in the Astrakhan province.

"This is the first real step towards the integration of Kazakh and Russian business in the sphere of renewable energy within the common economic space. We hope that the photovoltaic modules produced in Kazakhstan will be widely used in the construction of solar power plants under the program for the development of renewable energy sphere in Russia," the Director General of Astana Solar LLP Vyacheslav Sovetsky said during the launching ceremony.

"With this aim, we have started joint work with Solar Energy on unification of the legal framework of Kazakhstan and Russia in order to eliminate the technical barriers in the requirements for the localization of photovoltaic modules produced by the member states of the Customs Union."

Astana Solar LLP is a subsidiary of "Kazatomprom" company implementing a project on production of photovoltaic modules using Kazakhstani silicon "KazPV". The plant is equipped with the modern European automated equipment, which produces photovoltaic modules with the capacity of 50 megawatt and later with the capacity of up to 100 megawatt.
