Kyrgyzstan's and Tajikistan's intergovernmental commission on delimitation and demarcation of the Tajik-Kyrgyz state border met in the Tajik city of Dushanbe, Tajik Foreign Ministry reported. The meeting was held on Jan. 7.

The delegations of both countries were headed by deputy prime ministers - Murodali Alimardon from Tajikistan and Tokon Mamytov from Kyrgyzstan.

Within the meeting the parties discussed the issues of the state border delimitation and defined a schedule of meetings of governmental delegations and working groups for 2014.

The cross-border cooperation between Tajik Sughd and Kyrgyz Batken regions became one of the main topics of the meeting. Deputy prime ministers instructed border services, law enforcement bodies and administrations of both regions to hold a bilateral working meeting in the city of Isfara on Jan. 9 to organize joint patrols of the border.

The parties agreed to hold bilateral meetings on a regular basis and expressed strong confidence in further development and strengthening of cross-border cooperation.
