Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was received by Emperor Akihito within his official visit to Japan (September 11-13), Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary (TDH) State News Service reported on Friday.
"Welcoming Turkmen leader's determination to bring Turkmen-Japanese cooperation to a new level, the Emperor noted that Japan will make every effort for that bilateral partnership would continue to develop successfully, the report said.
Turkmen head stressed that Turkmenistan attaches special importance to strengthening of relations with Japan, which develop on the basis of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect and praises the achieved level of trust and mutual understanding.
Noting the constructive character of Turkmen-Japanese interactions on the international arena, especially, within UN and other international organizations, Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan and Japan are linked by the similarity of principles and attitudes towards the main issues of international politics.
According to him, both of the states actively contribute to consolidation of efforts of the international community in resolving the main tasks of the modern world - strengthening of peace, security and stability, ensuring sustainable development in global scale.
Turkmen president and Japanese Emperor had exchange of views about the prospects for intensification of intergovernmental dialogue, highlighting a number of priority areas of trade and economy, TDH reported.
We welcome the activity of a large Japanese business and will contribute to expansion of Japanese capital's presence in Turkmenistan," President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.
At the end of the meeting, Akihito introduced his son Naruhito - Crown Prince of Japan to Turkmen president. Naruhito was invited to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. Time of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
