The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Austria Silapberdi Nurberdiyev has been appointed Turkmenistan's permanent representative to UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organisation).
The relevant decree of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was published on Feb.7.
It was earlier reported that UNIDO assisted Turkmenistan in the project for the implementation of the Montreal protocol signed by Ashgabat in 1993.
The Montreal protocol on substances that deplete the Ozone Layer was signed 25 years ago. Some 197 countries had joined it as of mid-2012.
The measures envisaged by the Montreal protocol must ensure a significant decrease in the volume of global production of ozone depleting substances (ODS).
At the current stage, the Montreal protocol managed to ban the production and consumption of some 100 types of harmful chemicals, many of which contribute to global warming.
