Chairperson of the Majlis (the Turkmen Parliament) Akja Nurberdiyeva received credentials of Bahrain's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Rashid Saad Al Doseri, the Turkmen government said on May 21.

The sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, which has a huge potential in trade-economic, as well as cultural spheres.

The issues of strengthening the inter-parliamentary relations were also discussed. Doseri stressed the importance of further strengthening the existing constructive dialogue.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid an official visit to Manama in February 2011, which resulted in the signing of a package of intergovernmental agreements.

President Berdimuhamedov urged Bahrain's financial-industrial groups to invest capital in promising sectors of the country, to start establishing joint ventures in the leading sectors, based on mutual investments.

The experts believe that fuel, energy and refining capacity in both countries, their favorable geographical position serve as a convenient platform for the mutual exchange of experience. The two countries have great opportunities for cooperation in the transport-communication sector, textile and tourism.

UAE is the most active among Arab countries on the Turkmen market, especially in the fuel-energy sector. Dragon Oil Company has been producing hydrocarbons in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. Petrofac took part in the Galkynysh industrial development, the second largest gas field in the world after South Pars.
