By Huseyn Hasanov- Trend:

Turkmenistan announced regular conscription.

President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov signed a decree on the transfer of soldiers doing military service from the armed forces and other troops of Turkmenistan to the reserve and the next conscription of Turkmen citizens to military service.

The document provides for the dismissal of soldiers doing military service on conscription, who have served the statutory period, to the reserve in April-June 2015.

The decree also provides for conscription of the male citizens of Turkmenistan not eligible for deferment, who reached the age of 18 until the day of conscription and senior citizens who have lost the right for deferment from military service during this period.

Turkmenistan approved a military doctrine, the essence of which has remained unchanged in recent years, i.e. the defense sufficiency, the policy of positive neutrality, and refusal to participate in any military-political blocs.

Turkmenistan borders Kazakhstan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan on land, and with Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran on the Caspian Sea.
