Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Moscow for talks with Russian officials late Wednesday, IRNA reported.
The visit takes place on his regional tour which earlier took him to Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan and Syria.
During his stay in Damascus, Zarif conferred with President Bashar Assad, Prime Minister Vael Halqi and Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem.
In addition to bilateral ties, Zarif discussed political, economic and cultural issues as well as major regional and international developments with the Syrian authorities.
The humanitarian crisis in Syria, Geneva 2 Conference, fighting terrorism, sectarianism and anti- violence measures were among the main topics dealt with during the meetings.
