An official here on Wednesday said that 350 of Achaemenid tablets have been returned from the United States to Iran, IRNA reported.
Head of Iranˈs Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Masood Soltanifar told IRNA that Iran is trying to return more of the tablets to Iran.
Over 30,000 pieces of Achaemenid tablets were loaned to the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago for academic studies in 1935 but were not returned to Iran.
Soltanifar said 150 pieces of the tablets were returned in 1948 and 200 pieces in 2001.
A US court has issued a verdict to keep the relics on hold in the US.
Soltanifar expressed hope that with the legal efforts underway, all Iranian historical relics be returned to Iran.
