Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has arrived in Baghdad for an official visit.

Iraq's Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari welcomed Iranian minister at the airport, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported on August 24.

Zarif is scheduled to meet with a number of Iraq's high-ranking officials including President Fuad Masum, Prime minister designate Haider Al-Abadi, Incumbent Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki, and Parliament speaker Salim Al-Jabouri.

The latest developments of Iraq and the region, as well as bilateral ties are at the hearts of the talks.

Zarif also plans to visit three European countries in the next ten days. Italy, Luxembourg, and Belgium are the mentioned three countries.

Iran's ISNA News Agency reported that Zarif will hold a meeting with European Union's foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton in Belgian capital Brussels.

Iran and P5+1 (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council comprising of China, France, Russia, Britain, the US Plus Germany) are likely to hold a new round of nuclear talks on the sidelines of the upcoming UN General Assembly Session in September.
