Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that relations among the Persian-speaking countries should be expanded in all arenas.

Rouhani made the remarks while receiving the letter of credential of Tajik new Ambassador to Tehran Nematollah Imamzada, Iran's official IRNA news agency reported on Sept. 2.

Referring to the cordial relations between Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, he underscored that the progress of each regional country, would benefit the entire region.

On the Tehran-Dushanbe historical and cultural relations, he called for expansion of all-out ties between the two countries.

Iran has always supported establishment of peace and security in Tajikistan, President Rouhani added.

Imamzada, for his part, said he would do his best to reinforce the level of mutual cooperation, the economic relations in particular.

Pointing to President Rouhani's upcoming visit to Tajikistan, the diplomat expressed hope that the visit could prepare the ground for reinforcement of relations between the two brotherly countries.

Rouhani is scheduled to visit Tajikistan next week to hold talks with senior Tajik officials and attend the summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
