The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) plans to become one of the world's top ten shipping lines.
IRISL managing director Mohammad Saeidi said that based on a timetable, IRISL will reach the 15th place in the world by the next two years, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported on September 13.
Currently, IRISL ranks 21st, he said, adding that the company will be one of the top ten shipping lines by the next 5 years.
"Over the past few years, IRISL faced limitations due to the sanctions, but the sanctions will be gradually lifted as of January as per the nuclear agreement."
Under the regime of sanctions, IRISL ships are not allowed to sail to European countries, Australia, and Canada.
Many of IRISL ships have changed their destination from Europe to East Asia, especially China and India, over recent years.
IRISL former director Mohammad Hossein Dajmar earlier said that IRISL may come out of sanctions in winter.
