Iran’s steel ingot output rises by only 3%

About 1.359 million tons of crude steel was produced in Iran during the one-month period from June 21 to July 21.

The figure shows a slight fall by 0.47 percent compared to the same period last year, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), said Aug. 30.

Iranian state-run and private steel producer companies produced about 1.37 million tons of various steel products including beam, wide sheets, hot rolled sheets, galvanized steel and tubes during the one-month period of the current year, which is one percent less compared to the same period of preceding year.

Iran’s steel ingot output stood at 6.06 million tons during the first four months of current Iranian fiscal year (March 20-July 21), indicating a 3.2 percent increase year-on-year.

Mobarakeh Steel Company, Khouzestan Steel Company and Esfahan Steel Company with 1.83 million tons, 1.17 million tons, and 829,230 tons respectively, were the main producers of steel ingots in Iran during the four-month period.

Iranian steel-producing companies also produced about 5.41 million tons of various steel products in the first four months of current fiscal year, 1.4 percent less year-on-year.

The Islamic Republic’s steel output throughout 2015 is estimated to have hit 16.11 million tons. This in its own turn shows a decline of 1.4 percent year-on-year.
Iran also produced 16.331 million tons of crude steel in 2014.

The country’s crude steel production reached 15.421 million tons in 2013, which was 6.6 percent more than its preceding year.
