Iran’s iron ore concentrate output up by 43%

Iran’s major state-run iron ore companies have produced about 6.053 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the first two months of current fiscal year (March 20-May 21).

The figure indicates a 43-percent increase compared to the preceding year, the Islamic Republic’s Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported June 20.

Gol Gohar Iron Ore Co. ranked first, producing 2.14 million tons of iron ore concentrate followed by Chadormalou with 1.65 million tons of production.

Markazi (718,800 tons), Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (538,633 tons), Gohar Zamin(671,367 tons) and Sangan (333,579 tons) were other leading iron ore concentrate producers.

The report did not include the volume of iron ore produced by private sector companies, which in total produce 14 million tons of iron ore annually in Iran.

The aforementioned companies produced 1.015 million tons of iron ore granule in total during the first two months of the current fiscal year as well (6 percent fall year-on-year).

Iran’s iron ore reserve stands at 5.1 billion tons, of which 2.8 billion tons are proven.
