Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that the arrogant powers are seeking to safeguard the Israeli's security by creating "Takfiri terrorist groups", Iran's ISNA News Agency reported Oct. 3.
Iranian officials generally refer the Takfir to extremist Sunni groups such as the IS (Islamic State group, ISIL or ISIS).
Khamenei made the remarks at a message issued to Hajj pilgrims. His statement was read out by his representative in the Hajj pilgrimage, Seyyed Ali Qazi Asgar.
"The imperialist and Zionist fronts have intensified their policies of inciting conflicts among the Muslims," Khamenei's message said.
"Unity among Muslims, the issue of Palestine and making a clear and intelligent distinction between the notion of pure Islam and the American-style Islam are among the most important issues facing the present Islamic world," said Khamenei.
"Hajj is the symbol of unity and solidarity and the focal point of brotherhood and cooperation among Muslims," said the message. "While performing Hajj rituals, all pilgrims should practice focusing on their commonalities and removing differences."
