By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Mansour Haghighatpour, deputy chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said the initial agreement between Iran and the world powers was a great achievement.

"The greatest achievement of the political deal between Iran and the world six powers was that the fraudulent face of the US became known to the world," he said in an interview with Trend April 3.

"U.S. officials used to say that Iran plans to produce nuclear weapons. Today, they officially declare that Iran has not deviated from its [peaceful] nuclear path. The greatest achievement for us is that we showed the world that the US is a liar," Haghighatpour said.

Now, Europeans should know that they should keep the US at a distant and do not follow the US in political behavior, he added.

Iranand world powers reached a framework agreement on Thursday on curbing Iran's nuclear program for at least a decade.

He said that the other issue is that the West was against any uranium enrichment in Iran until now, but now they accept keeping 5,060 centrifuges active in Iran's Natanaz plant.
"The U.S. was also lying that Iraq sought weapons of mass destruction. This is, in my opinion, a proof of disgrace for the U.S. and a great achievement for us."

The U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003 under the pretext that Iraq holds weapons of mass destruction. But, such weapons were not discovered at all.

"The fact that we managed to circumvent the article 7th of the UN Security Council by diplomacy is also an achievement. It is unprecedented that a country can get rid of the article 7th without getting involved in military action. This issue shows rightness of the Islamic Republic."

Iran and world powers reached a framework agreement on Thursday on curbing Iran's nuclear program for at least a decade.
According to a joint announcement, Iran will have only one uranium enrichment plant, Natanz, also Iran will change the Fordo uranium enrichment plant to a nuclear research site.

Iran will also change the design of Arak heavy water plant to make less plutonium and the International Atomic Energy Agency will have more access to Iran's nuclear facilities.

In exchange, the EU and the U.S. will halt their sanctions on Iran after reaching a comprehensive nuclear deal (expected to be achieved byJune 30).
