Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 27
By Fatih Karimov - Trend:
The Iranian parliament (Majlis) has received a motion from MPs to impeach roads and urban development minister Abbas Akhoundi.
Thirteen MPs have so far signed the impeachment motion, Iran's Shana news agency reported Sept. 27.
Mohammad Dehqan, a member of the Majlis presiding board, said the minister will be questioned for not fulfilling his promised plans, problems related to roads and urban development, rural housing projects, as well as financial deficits of the ministry.
Earlier in May, 24 MPs signed a motion to impeach Akhoundi.
At that time, MP Mousarreza Servati said, "The minister pledges, but doesn't meet."
"As of today, neither the problem of housing, nor the problem of flights has been solved. Development problems are extant as well," Servati added.
