Seven generals of Syrian army crossed the border into Turkey, and announced about the transition to the opposition, the newspaper Haberturk reported on Tuesday.
The generals were sent to the camp of Aydin, created by the Turkish authorities for Syrian refugees in the province of Hatay.
Some 22 wounded Syrian refugees including women and children also crossed the border.
According to the Office for the Prevention and Emergency Management (AFAD), the number of Syrian refugees in Turkey has increased to 110,000 people. A total of 10 tented camps for Syrian refugees have been operating in the cities of Hatay, Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep and Kahramanmaras.
Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for a year and half.
According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 30,000.
Over 230,000 have become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
