Georgia, Tbilisi, Jan. 9 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe Mamuka Zhgenti resigns. Information was confirmed by the ambassador himself.

"This is the solution agreed with the government and the president. As far as I know, replacement of ambassadors in all major diplomatic missions is planned. Although it does not mean that I am quitting diplomatic service at all. In any case, I hope so," Zhgenti told reporters.

However, he said he had no information about who he will be succeeded by in the Council of Europe. According to Zhgenti, this is something to be decided by the minister of foreign affairs, the president and the parliament.

Mamuka Zhgenti was appointed Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe in 2011.
