The Georgian ruling party will renominate Gigi Ugulava for the Tbilisi mayoral elections, Parliamentary Vice Speaker and National Movement party head Mikhael Machavariani said today.

Ugulava is a good nomination and enjoys support among the people. He may win the mayoral elections, Machavariani said.

The elections are to be held no later than July 1, 2010. The approximate day of elections is May 30.

The opposition intends to nominate one candidate for the mayoral elections.

Among the opposition candidates are Alliance for Georgia party leader Irakli Alasania, Conservatives party leader Zviad Dzidziquri and People Party leader Koba Davitashvili.
