Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Vice President of the International Informatization Academy of the United Nations in general consultative status Alexei Tikhomirov, the Turkmen government said.
The president stressed that the Turkmen side is ready to consider and to study new proposals from agencies and key international organizations of the UN.
Berdimuhammadov signed a decree to create National Space Agency under the President of Turkmenistan.
The newly established Agency will be responsible for monitoring earth orbit, launching satellite communication services, conducting space research and managing the operation of an artificial satellite from Turkmenistan's territory.
A techno-park will be established in the Bikrova village near Ashgabat for innovative scientific research in important fields.
The techno-park will offer facilities for research on the active use of alternative energy sources (sun, wind) and the assimilation of nanotechnologies.
The techno-park is designed to enhance innovation and is partially reminiscent of the type of academician town that existed in the USSR.
The first techno-park was established in the United States. In the USSR, the first techno-park was established in Tomsk in 1988.
