Iran reacts to UK claims over world security

The great winner of the regional revolutionary movements are the freedom-seeking people and the Muslims there whose uprisings are against the colonialist policies taken by the US and Britain with an objective of meddling in the internal affairs of the regional countries, Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said on Wdnesday, IRNA reported.

His statements followed as a reaction to claims by his UK counterpart Liam Fox over considering Iran as a threat to world and regional security.

'Some western warmongering countries, the US and Britain in particular, are now confused due to the regional uprisings which are against their policies,' said defense minister.

He further said the words of the western states are full of paradox, because on one hand they consider the developments in the region as freedom-seeking movements; and on the other, they say the world security would be in danger if Iran was the winner of these events.

The major reason for their anti-regional actions is that they are concerned about losing the considerable resources existing in the Middle East region, said Vahidi.

Vahidi noted that producing weapons of mass destruction, supporting the terrorist country of Israel and showing aggression against the people across the world are the examples which prove that the West is a superficial advocate of the human rights.

He further said what threatened the region were not the mass regional protests against the autocrats but suppressing the news about the nuclear arsenal in Israel.

He then called on the UK to apologize to the regional nations instead of taking measures against their interests.
