Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday that Turkey, with its existing regime, experiences in democracy, democratic standards and will that manages change, has successfully shown to the whole world that Islam and democracy can co-exist, Anadolu News Agency reported.

Delivering the opening remarks of the "Leaders of Change Summit" taking place at the Istanbul Congress Center, Erdogan said that he was extremely pleased to host dignitaries from all corners of the world at the Istanbul Summit.

A leader, who has remained indifferent to the requests and demands of his people, will sooner or later be defeated, Erdogan said.

A leader has to read the change in a society successfully and must re-shape his leadership based on the change in the society, Erdogan said.
