Turkey is trying to resolve the problems with Cyprus via negotiations. However, the Cypriote side is avoiding direct talks, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a meeting of his Justice and Development Party, the TRT Haber TV channel reported.

Erdogan said that the international organizations turn a blind eye to the violations of the countries' rights.

Turkey began exploring hydrocarbons in the Mediterranean Sea on the continental shelf of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It is a response to Nicosia's similar operations near the coasts of the island divided into Greek and Turkish parts.

The Turkish PM and President of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Dervis Eroglu signed an agreement on the delineation of the continental shelf toexplore and produce oil and gas. The agreement was signed in New York last Wednesday.
