A final decision has been taken concerning the price of Russian gas for Armenia. Starting in April, Gazprom will sell 1000 cubic meters of gas for $240 instead of the current $180, informed sources at the Zhohovurd newspaper reported, an Armenian report said.
"According to our information, a relevant agreement has already been prepared. Most likely, it will be officially published after the presidential elections in Armenia.
According to rumours the impact of higher gas prices will be temporarily mitigated on the account of the excessive profits of ArmRosgazprom, as gas is bought for $180 and sold for $340 to people on the border with Armenia.
However, a few months after the presidential elections the gas price will be increased for all consumers as well. The Armenian Energy Ministry continues to insist the gas tariff plan has not been specified and that negotiations are not yet complete, " Zhohovurd said.
