The process of harmonising Georgian transport legislation with European legislations is going according to plan, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili said on Wednesday.

As the minister stated at the summit of the Eastern Partnership, the main priority of the Georgian government is integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures and harmonisation of legislation which is an essential condition for regional co-operation with the EU.

The summit was attended by the Vice-President of the European Commission, the European Commissioner for Transport Siim Kalas, the European commissioner for enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia David Narmania, ministers and curators of Eastern Partnership member countries, as well as representatives of international financial institutions.

The forum participants considered harmonisation of the legislation of the member states with European legislation, integration of the transport market, and identification of priority infrastructure links and possibilities of financing projects.

The informal Eastern Partnership summit started in Tbilisi on February12 and finishes today.

On February 13, the summit participants will hold a press conference on the outcome.
