An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale hit Bonin Island, Japan, at 2132 GMT Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said, Xinhua reported.

An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale hit Bonin Island, Japan, at 2132 GMT Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said, Xinhua reported.

The epicenter was 520 kilometers deep at 26.944 north latitude and 140.006 east longitude, the USGS said.
