A 6.1-magnitude earthquake shook eastern Japan Saturday, the Meteorological Agency said.
No immediate casualties or damage to property were reported and no tsunami warnings were issued, DPA reported.
The epicentre of the 6:56 pm (0956 GMT) quake was in the northern part of Ibaraki Prefecture, about 130 kilometres north-east of Tokyo. The quake struck at a depth of 20 kilometres.
