Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that if Russia proves that his country buys oil from the IS terrorist group (ISIL or ISIS), he will resign, Hurriyet newspaper reported Nov.27.

Turkey primarily buys Russian oil and this country's authorities are aware of that, said Erdogan.

"If Russia thinks Turkey buys oil from terrorists, it should prove that," said the president.

Earlier, Russian authorities accused Ankara of purchasing oil from the IS.

Moreover, Moscow has demanded an apology from Turkey for the incident with Russian SU-24 bomber. Commenting on this, Erdogan said that Turkey won't apologize to Russia for this incident.

He added that Russia itself should ask for apology from Turkey. The Turkish Air Force shot down the Russian SU-24 bomber in its airspace Nov. 24. Both pilots managed to eject and the plane crashed on the territory of Syria.

Relations between Russia and Turkey have deteriorated after the incident.
