By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

Turkey will continue the military operation in Syria until completely eliminating the terrorism threat on its southern borders, the Anadolu Agency quoted Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim as saying Sept.23.

Yildirim pointed out that Turkey’s territory periodically comes under missile fire from Syria’s border areas controlled by militants and this once again reminds that it is necessary to continue the fight against terrorist organizations in Syria.

Turkey’s Kilis province came under missile fire from the Syrian territory controlled by the militants of the “Islamic State” (IS, aka ISIS, ISIL or Daesh) terrorist group Sept.22. Six people were injured as a result of the attack.

On Aug. 24 morning, the Turkish Air Force, with the support of the coalition aircraft, launched an operation to liberate the city of Jarabulus from the IS militants in northern Syria, near Aleppo.

The operation was dubbed “Shield of the Euphrates.”

Syria has been suffering from an armed conflict since March 2011, which, according to the UN, has so far claimed over 500,000 lives. Militants from various armed groups are confronting the Syrian government troops. The IS, YPG and PYD are the most active terrorist groups in Syria.
