On June 10, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the Afghani Ambassador to Iran who was accredited to Azerbaijan Yahya Maroufi due to the end of his mission, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.
The ambassador said he has been recently elected to the post of the Organization of Economic Cooperation (OEC) and he leaves the current position due to this reason. Maroufi thanked Azerbaijan for supporting his candidature and said that he will leave Azerbaijan with good impressions.
In turn, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister congratulated Maroufi on his new appointment and wished him success in his future activities. While stressing that Afghanistan is a friendly country for Azerbaijan, Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijan will continue to provide full support to Afghanistan.
