There are strong political relations between Azerbaijan and Poland, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on the joint press conference with the President of Poland Lech Kaczynski after the ceremony of awarding the Heydar Aliyev Order to President of Poland, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
Ilham Aliyev said that in the economic sphere good results are achieved.
Head of Azerbaijan stressed the importance of cooperation in the energy field.
"In recent years we have seen the development of Polish-Azerbaijani relations in the energy field. This area is very important for Azerbaijan, as well as to Poland, for Europe. Poland-Azerbaijan relations are developing in this direction both in bilateral and in a larger format. The actions, which we call the Krakow Initiative, serve to the deepening of regional cooperation", said Ilham Aliyev.
The president said the feasibility study of the Odessa-Brody-Gdansk pipeline has already been developed.
"I am convinced that we should take new steps in line with the results achieved in the coming years. In this area, some important steps have already been taken and a feasibility study of the Odessa-Brody-Gdansk oil pipeline has already been developed. This is a very important event. I hope that we will achieve the desired in regional cooperation issues in the coming years," the Azerbaijani president said.
Ilham Aliyev also discussed regional cooperation on the Caspian Sea - Black Sea - Baltic Sea route.
"Today we are talking about regional cooperation in the Caspian Sea - Black Sea - Baltic Sea. It covers both energy and political ties, transport, and humanitarian problems, in general, a lot of questions. The Polish-Azerbaijani bilateral relations are very important to solve these issues," he said.
The Head of State noted that they also discussed some issues to intensify ties with the European Union.
"Poland has a very important and impressive ability to strengthen Azerbaijan's ties with the European Union and uses them. I consider the Eastern Partnership program which has recently started as a new page in the relations between the European Union and Azerbaijan, and we are ready to do so. We are ready to contribute to solution of energy security issues. An excellent relationship basing on mutual respect was established between the EU and Azerbaijan on other issues. In the coming years, we will deepen this relationship. In short, our relations have very broad meaning, provide our bilateral relations, our successful development, and at the same time, they have a great impact on relations between Europe and Azerbaijan," the Azerbaijani president said.
Ilham Aliyev added that there are some advances in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"There some advances in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. All issues and all conflicts must be resolved on the basis of a single principle: the territorial integrity of any country should be respected and the territorial integrity of any country is inviolable. Any conflict, including the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be solved only on this basis," President Ilham Aliyev said.
