Mourinho's move to Real Madrid not as smooth as planned

Negotiations for the move of Jose Mourinho from Inter Milan appear to have stalled over a transfer fee included in the contract of the Portuguese coach, DPA reported.

"All settled? Not at all," local media on Wednesday quoted Inter president Massimo Moratti as saying. "Practically, we have not yet begun to discuss."

Mourinho reportedly said that Moratti promised not to charge a severance fee of 16 million euros (19.7 million dollars) and let him free to go if Inter won the Champions League.

The contract of Mourinho with Inter expires on 2012, but he said on Saturday he meant to move to Real, minutes after a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in Madrid allowed Inter to lift a European trophy they last won 45 years ago.

The coach, who also won two Serie A titles in as many seasons at Inter, said he wanted to face new challenges and was disappointed by Italian football.

Things seemed to run smoothly as Moratti invited the coach for dinner on Monday night. On Tuesday, Mourinho emptied his office at the team's camp and greeted the staff.

But now his departure for Madrid appears delayed and talks are are also not made easier by speculation that Real are keen on snatching Inter star Argentine striker Diego Milito, Brazil defender Douglas Maicon and Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

"Let's say that the annoyance for Mourinho's behaviour was overcome by the fact that he didn't lose concentration and clinched the goals and the successes we wanted," Moratti said.

"The real problem now is the trouble of having to find a new coach. It will take some time."

Inter are said to be after England's national team selector Fabio Capello and Dutchman Guus Hiddink, currently managing the Turkish national team.

Serb Sinisa Mihajlovic, a former Inter defender and assistant coach is also being considered after rescuing underdogs Catania from relegation.
