The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, has received Chairman of the Senate of the Netherlands, Rene van der Linden, who is on an official visit to Baku, the ministry said Wednesday.
In a statement released to the media, the ministry said the two officials expressed appreciation for the close relationship between the parliaments of the two countries and their level of cooperation within a number of international organizations.
Underlining the importance of intensification of the relations between the countries in economic, energy, agricultural and other fields, Mammadyarov emphasized the importance of bilateral relations and cooperation with the European Union.
Commenting on forthcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, van der Linden shared his experience of elections in the Netherlands and expressed confidence in the success of the Azerbaijan poll. Other issues of mutual interests were also discussed.
