An agreement to establish a Business Council of Turkic-speaking states was signed as part of the summit of Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states, Novosti - Kazakhstan reported.
Representatives of regional major organisations and companies signed up to the Business Council and toady sees its first meeting involving government delegations from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
The first meeting discussed current issues and prospects for economic cooperation along with a series of unilateral and multilateral negotiations between the business communities in the four countries.
Speaking at a business forum, Secretary General of the Turkic-Speaking Countries Cooperation Council Halil Akinci, said the Business Council has two main tasks which are finding new areas for cooperation and elimination of existing barriers to mutual trade and economic relations.
He said:"I know that all businessmen are complaining about customs procedures. Customs gains a lot when it comes to trade between our countries.
He added that the main problems are the issues of border crossing and obtaining transit documents and suggested a transport and communications agency could be created within the business council to address these issues.
The first CCTS summit runs in Almaty from Oct.20-21 where delegates will discuss topical international and regional issues. Its main priority will be the expansion of trade, economic and cultural cooperation among the Turkic-speaking states.
The Almaty Declaration will be signed as the outcome of the event.
