Decreased inter-operator costs will make mobile services more affordable for end users, Bakcell Chief Technical Officer Yigit Berktas told Trend on Wednesday.
He said the decrease may also contribute to reducing the amount that GSM-operators pay to international operators.
"The decrease will significantly reduce the cost for end users," he said.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry submitted a project to the GSM and CDMA mobile operators to create equal conditions for development. The project includes the collective decision to unify inter-operator rates.
The rate must be reduced from 0.05 manat to 0.02 manat.
However, Azercell and Bakcell disagree. Therefore, the issue is the subject to litigation between the companies.
The official exchange rate is 0.7864 AZN/USD on Feb. 22.
