The Azerbaijani Health Ministry is working to establish a register of medical certificates with the further possibility of providing access to the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry's departments, the ministry told Trend on Friday.
The project is scheduled to be completed by late 2012 and additional funds will be required for its full realisation.
After the database is formed, structural departments of the Interior Ministry will be able to verify authenticity of medical certificates issued to citizens. This will simplify procedures when issuing passports and driving licenses.
At present a one-way exchange of information is ensured at interagency level which allows the Health Ministry to get data on its holders when making an inquiry on the number of identity cards in the Interior Ministry's database.
In future, the electronic database of the Health Ministry will be integrated with those of other public institutions in the country.
