The IP-TV service by Smart Systems Technology will be put into commercial operation in June 2013, the company's Marketing Manager Subhan Garagezov told Trend.
According to him, the service is currently in beta testing. It is also planned to purchase Set-Top-Box equipment for the end-consumers.
"Delivery of the primary party of these devices is expected in the next few days. Apart from the technical component, there are also legal issues, based on which the service will be offered. This involves determining the conditions under which the equipment will be made available to the end-users. Regarding the cost of services, it will be in line with market rates," Garagezov said.
The signals to the Smart Systems Technology network are transmitted through the lines of the Teleradio production association (PA) of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan.
Currently, a similar service is being tested by operators Ultel and Bakcell, which will also launch the services in the near future.
Currently, IP-TV signals are transmitted in the network of public telecommunication operators Aztelekom and Baku Telephone Communications. The number of TV channels that are transmitted through the network of operators totals 112.
