.
It is expected that the proposals of the Internet community of Azerbaijan about cutting internet prices will be approved during this month, the chairman of the Internet Community Galib Gurbanov told Trend on Wednesday.

According to Gurbanov, the proposals submitted for consideration of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan envisage the decrease of rent for connection to the optical ports, for laying and rent of optical channels.

"In order to discuss these proposals, there was repeatedly held meetings in the Ministry during which all aspects were viewed and amendments were made. Cost of access to the Internet via optical fiber networks for end-users can be reduced equally to reduced rent for internet service providers," Gurbanov said.

When coming to the access based on ADSL technology, the chairman of the Internet Community believes that the resources for this type of connection were almost exhausted. This technology is morally obsolete; accordingly, extension of optical connections should be priority.

Azerbaijan's Internet market has passed the quantitative threshold and is on the verge of quality improvement. The main obstacle in the way of qualitative development is the prevalence of copper cable infrastructure, which must give way to optical communication lines, which will essentially solve the last-mile problem.

ADSL technology, which uses the infrastructure the public telephone network, is not able to quickly transfer large amount of traffic as opposed to FTTx optical technology.
