Azerbaijani mobile operator - Azercell Telekom intends to launch LTE- roaming (4G), the company told Trend on Feb. 18.

At present, the operations are underway to expand the 4G channel, through which the traffic is transferred, according to the company.

"The service will be available to Azercell Telekom subscribers after the work is over in this direction," the company said. "A group of companies TeliaSonera became the first among the European telecommunications service providers, which deployed 4G-roaming. Azercell plans to implement this project in 2014."

Currently, LTE network covers Baku and the Absheron peninsula.

LTE network coverage will be extended to Azerbaijani regions in the near future.

The LTE technology has been chosen as the basic technology of the fourth generation (4G).

The 4G family includes the technologies that allow mobile subscribers to transmit data over cellular networks at speeds above 100 megabits/second and stationary subscribers - at speed of one gigabit/second, which is ten times more than in 3G networks.
