The growth in computer sales in Azerbaijan as part of "People's Computer" project was 4.5 percent in the first quarter of 2014, Best Comp Group told Trend on April 2.
Computer equipment worth about 667,000 manat was sold in January-March, with 650 manat the average cost of one computer, the company said.
Over 23,500 computers worth 15.3 million manat were sold since the project was launched in April 2009.
Some 3,900 of the total number of computers were sold in Baku and the rest in the regions.
Teachers and pupils of Azerbaijani secondary schools, university students and healthcare employees were provided with incentives to buy computers as part of the People's Computer project.
The computers offered as part of the project are sold upon an interest-free loan for up to 12 months. The antivirus software, ADSL- modems and DATA- cards of the Azerbaijani mobile operators are offered to the customers.
The project is implemented with the HP and Microsoft participation. HP's partner - Best Comp Group supplies the equipment.
The official exchange rate is 0.7843 AZN/USD on April 4.
