The BP company, an operator of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) block of oil and gas field development, plans to suspend two platforms for scheduled maintenance work in 2016, Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey at BP Gordon Birrell told reporters March 10.
He said that the matter rests in the platforms of Western Azeri and Deepwater Gunashli.
"During the scheduled maintenance work, oil production on these platforms will be stopped," said Birrell.
At the same time, the regional president of the company didn't name the exact period for which the platform will be stopped.
BP and its partners produced 31.3 million tons of oil at Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of fields in 2015 versus 31.5 million tons of oil produced in 2014.
The contract for development of ACG large offshore field was signed in 1994.
Shares in the contract for development of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of fields are distributed as follows: BP (operator in Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli) - 35.78 percent, Chevron - 11.27 percent, Inpex - 10.96 percent, AzACG - 11.65 percent, Statoil - 8.55 percent, Exxon - eight percent, TPAO - 6.75 percent, Itochu - 4.3 percent and ONGC - 2.72 percent.
