Preparedness for Emergency Fire Response is important, and this can only be achieved through practical trainings and drills. In this regard, Garadagh district Fire Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in conjunction with Holcim Azerbaijan Emergency Response Team has conducted a drill in Holcim Garadagh cement plant.
According to the scenario, the drill began with the receipt of a fire alarm on the fire in the factory area by the "101" hotline of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Upon receiving an incoming call, the forces of the Fire Protection Unit were involved in the conventional scene.
The first part of the two-part drill, was evacuation of people from the administrative buildings to a safe area as well as the plant emergency response team (ERT) preventing the spread of small-scale fire by the use of fire extinguishers. The second part, ERT in conjunction with the Fire Protection Services, to tackle a relatively large fire at the improvised incident scene.
As a continuation of the emergency preparedness measures, it is planned to hold a presentation on the mentioned topics in other areas of the Holcim Azerbaijan plant and conduct practical exercises on “Fire Response Procedures”. Practical exercises make employees` more prepared for the fire and other potential emergency cases.
