BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 10. Central Asian countries are considering the possibility of exporting electricity to Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan in the future, Trend reports via the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.

The issue has been discussed during the 13th session of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission (IGC).

The IGC co-chairs, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov stressed that the commission is an effective platform for the development of business ties and the implementation of joint projects.

During the session, the parties noted that the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Uzbekneftegaz cooperate in the joint development of oil fields in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, the implementation of projects in the oil and gas sector, and other areas.

It was also emphasized that the memorandum of cooperation on unifying the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, signed in May 2024, is an indicator of effective and mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector.

The session has been convened within the framework of Jabbarov's business visit to Uzbekistan in Bukhara.

Along with the session, the Azerbaijani minister also attended the meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company.
