Eurovision 2012 will make Azerbaijan famous, a well-known mugham singer, people's artist of Azerbaijan Alibaba Mammadov said.
"Guests who arrive in Azerbaijan to the contest, see the beauty of Azerbaijan, the development of Baku, that takes place in recent years, the hospitality of the Azerbaijani people," he said.
As part of the Eurovision guests will have the opportunity to get acquainted with Baku closer, the mugham singer said.
Alibaba Mammadov said that the contest will feature songs from different genres, and highlighted the sound of the Azerbaijani mugham in the song, to be performed by the representative of Azerbaijan Sabina Babayeva.
"Mugam is the crown of all genres of music. All music is created on the mugham," he said.
People's artist expressed his confidence that the People's Artist of Azerbaijan Alim Gasimov will perform at the contest at a high level.
"Performance of Alim Gasimov is the pride of our mugham, our people, because mugham is our folklore, mugham is the universe," the mugham singer added.
The 57th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the Baku Crystal Hall near State Flag Square. The semi-finals will be held in Baku on May 22 and May 24 and the final on May 26. The logo for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest is 'Fire Flower', while the motto is Light your fire.
Azerbaijan won the right to host the prestigious European song contest after the victory of Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (Ell / Nikki) at Eurovision 2011 in Dusseldorf, Germany last May.
