A protest action on the Khojali Genocide took place in front of the Armenian Embassy in U.S.
Azerbaijani youth in U.S. and citizens of other countries participated in the protest action. The participants of the action protested against Armenian aggression with posters on the Khojali tragedy. A letter of the protest was handed over Armenian Ambassador to U.S. Tatul Markaryan at the end of the action.
The participants of the action sent an appeal on the Khojali tragedy and Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan to international organizations in U.S., including Amnesty International, CAC Co-Chairs, House International Relations Committee, Human Rights Watch, U.S. Senate International Relations Committee, Department of State, New York Times, Washington Post and Washington Times newspapers.
Armenian troops committed genocide in Khojali on Feb. 26, 1992. The tragedy began early morning.
Within hours, over 600 unarmed Azerbaijani citizens were killed. Among them were 106 women and 83 children. About 1,000 people were disabled by shots; 8 families were fully destroyed. A total of 25 children lost both of their parents and 130 children lost one of them. About 1,275 people were taken prisoner. Around 150 people went missing.
