Azerbaijan, Baku, July 30 /Trend, I. Izzet/

The European Azerbaijanis Congress is concerned by events that occurred after a speech of Moldavian human rights activist and ombudsman Aurelia Grigoriu in Armenia's parliament, Azerbaijan State Committee on Work with the Diaspora reported on Tuesday.

Appealing to the European Parliament, social and political institutions and the European public, the European Azerbaijani Congress called for attention to and to express protest against the cruel, ill-mannered and unfounded reaction of Armenia to the speech of the invited MP. The council stressed that these activities blatantly violate democratic, diplomatic and universal norms and values and demands that they be regarded acts of state terror.

On July 4, 2013 Grigoriu made a speech at an international conference organized by Armenia's Constitutional Court.

She accused Armenian authorities of occupying Azerbaijani territories and of genocide against the Azerbaijani nation and regards that as aggression, she stressed that, Armenia doesn't comply with international law.

After her speech in the Armenian parliament, pressure was put on Aurelia Grigoru and she was not allowed to leave the country.

The member of the Moldavian Parliament was subject to threat and persecution and even blackmail, it was demanded that she officially apologize to Armenia or face retaliation. After Grigoriu left Armenia, the nation's media outlet continued to persecute the ombudsman.

Such reaction of the Armenian government and all other events is nothing but an act of state terror, according to the European Azerbaijanis Congress.

The events in Armenia prove that this country does not only fail to comply with and respect international law, but also, basic ethical norms.

The European Azerbaijanis Congress condemns Armenian instigators, perpetrators of this event and calls the European Parliament to support the objective and fair speech of the Moldavian ombudsman Aurelia Grigoriu, as well as protect her freedom of speech.
