1203 AZERBAIJANIS RELEASED FROM ARMENIAN CAPTIVITY

1378 Azerbaijanis were released from the Armenian captivity till 1 September, Trend reports referring to the report of the 3rd meeting of the State Committee on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People.

The Committee sent letters of inquiry on 1203 people to the appropriate state bodies and international organizations in relation to the search of missing people. It studied the case of 1259 people, whose names were not registered by the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) due to lack of addresses by relatives. The collected information was sent to the ICRC.

During last 88 months the investigation of the case of the 135 missing people determined that 96 people were alive and currently lived in the CIS, while 39 were dead. They were identified and buried by relatives. The Committee confirmed 5 additional facts of disappearance from 1992 to 1993 and included their names in the list of missing people. Thus, the total number of the missing people comprised 4740.
