Villages of Guba Region May be Cut Off

Azerbaijan, Khachmaz / Trend corr. A.Gafarov / Villages of the Guba region of Azerbaijan may be cut off from the center as a result of snowfall and frost.

A special brigade started work on the Ganagkand road of the region in order to resolve the problem, Trend's regional reporter stated on 8 January. The brigade cut through the ice at the junction of the Valvalchay and Babachay Rivers near Gonakkand.

Snow fell on the road several days ago. The snow was cleared. In 2008 the Government is planning to construct the Guba-Gonagkand-Shamakha road with a length of 98km.

Heavy snowfall was observed in Azerbaijan in recent days. The depth of the snow reached 40-50cm in most regions.

Guba region is located 170km north of Baku.
